Baum’s Wizard of Oz

I’ll try to keep this baby free today, other than to say he has been sleeping very well and I may even start to do some writing again. Fingers crossed!

I will tell you about the book I’m reading. I’m reading The Wizard of Oz, the classic by Frank L. Baum. I downloaded a copy of the book a few months ago, from I don’t remember where, and I’d figure I’d give it a go. So far it has been a pleasant read.

I’m about 30 pages in and have found some differences from the movie already. For example, the shoes Dorothy wears in the book are silver, not the iconic Ruby Red from the movie. My wife tells me they made that change in the movie to show off “Technicolor”.

Also, Glenda in the book is described as “tiny” although it also mentions she is not a munchkin.

Anyhow, I’m enjoying it so far. If I like it I’ll have plenty more to read as there were 13 sequels.

A Double Standard

I was browsing the police log in the newspaper yesterday morning. It was more eventful as the students were celebrating a made-up drinking holiday called “State Patty’s Day” (State for Penn State). One of the more “colorful” incidents of the weekend involved a young man who was arrested for peeing on the front door of a local pub (at 6:30 PM no less).

I bring this up for reason of comparison. Last night my week old son peed on our wall, not once, but twice in the middle of the night and he wasn’t inebriated at all. I really doubt the police are going to do anything about that. That’s a total double standard if you ask me.

Our first trip into the world went very well yesterday. We all had fun at gymnastics and even had some time to pick up some food at a drive through. Now if we could just keep our walls clean…

An Exciting Turn Of Events

Well, after an exhausting Sunday (3 hours sleep the prior night maybe), in which we felt numb all day, we had a magnificent night of sleep last night. He wound up giving us two three hour bursts of sleep. It was great.

I feel like I could lift a hundred men today I have so much energy. Of at least a hundred toddlers. It’s nice that I think I’m finally almost over the flu.

Today we have the baby’s first doctor’s appointment. Before that we’re going to gymnastics for our daughter.

Sorry if I’m absent from all of your blogs everybody. I’ll be back soon. Right now my internet time is very limited, so I only have time to write this.

I feel like I’m human today. That’s gotta be a good thing, right? :)
