Writing Contest at The First Line

The web site The First Line is accepting submissions for their fall issue. The way it works is that they provide the first line and you write the rest. Fiction submissions will be between 300 and 3,000 words and non-fiction between 300 and 600 words. If your entry is chosen, you receive $20 and publication in their magazine.  Anyhow, check it out.  It may be a worthwhile exercise.  I am going to take a shot at a submission and see where it goes.

  1. I’m glad to hear about this website. I hope you don’t mind but I told my writers’ group about it too. I will certainly try to get a short story together. I can think of some interesting things I could do with Andy and his stack of Playboys.

  2. Helen,
That isn’t a problem. I posted it so more writers would know about it. Good luck with your story. I have started one too, and am interested in what the characters are going to do.
