NaNoWriMo and Halloween

I have much to do today. I have a Halloween costume to make for tomorrow, which I hope will be pretty cool. I may even post a picture here at some point. Also, I have been working on a Halloween themed short story that I would like to finish tonight and post here either tonight or tomorrow. I am pretty happy with it so far, so look for it here soon.
I have officially decided I am going to attempt National Novel Writing Month again this year. I even have a very rough outline started, meaning I know a few of the scenes from the story. It is a start, I guess. I have also decided I am going to write the entire thing by hand, in a Moleskine notebook. Last year, I would write by hand and then transfer that to my computer, which was like doing double the work with half the output. Someday I will buy a laptop computer and be able to write before bed electronically. It’s not going to happen this year, though.

I’m not sure what I expect to get out of NaNoWriMo. I suppose I am participating with the hope it will jump start me to complete a first draft of a novel. Honestly, I don’t expect to hit 50,000 words by the end of November. If I hit that number, that will be great. However, just getting any near that number will be worth it. Anyone else participating? What do you want to get out of NaNoWriMo?
