Just Hit 20,000 Words

Well, it’s 12:30 AM and I just hit 20,000 words.  It feels great.  I’m still on pace to hit 50,000 by the end of the month.

As I write this, my daughter (1 1/2 years old) is sleeping in my bed with my wife.  We never do that, but our daughter seems to be getting sick and this is the only way she is sleeping.  I think it’s going to be a long night.

  1. That’s brilliant! I’m still on 4500 words. This has been such a pathetic month for writing, what with being ill and the Incredible Tantrumming Boy. Thank you for the message you left on my blog. It means a lot to me to know that other people understand what I’m going through right now.

12.30am! Please don’t tire yourself out! Keep a fresh brain for tomorrow!

I hope your daughter is feeling better soon.

  2. Well done! That IS an achievement. Glad you are feeling so inspired but not glad that your daughter is feeling ill. I hope she is feeling better soon! For all your sakes 🙂

  3. I don’t know how I survived those first three years of my son’s life. Seems like he was sick all the time. And I don’t know how anyone can write after 8:00 at night. Rock on, sw!

  4. I definitely know about sleepless nights with kids and I’m not old enough to have kids yet…well, physically, maybe, but you get my point. My sisters were all pains in the butt until they reach five, and then they were just annoying. My sister just turned 1 year old like a month ago, and she won’t sleep through a night. I know what long nights are like. Congrats on the 20,000 word marks

  5. Yay for 20k! 🙂 I’m going to have some serious catching up to do starting Thursday (I’m working 12 hour shifts until then, which leave me with little time and even less energy for NaNo’ing). I know, excuses excuses. But I’ll get back at it soon. I hope you manage to get some sleep and then MORE WORDS!

  6. Wow, 20,000, congratulations!

Oh I have sweet memories of my son sleeping in my bed when he was little, he used to curl up with his face against the back of my neck.
(I should add, I also have bad ones, especially when he was sick. Nothing like not sleeping all night long, because each cough may necessitate grabbing something for him to puke in). (I will also add my husband always managed to sleep just fine through this)

I hope your little girl is well, and you all get restful sleep.
