Almost Halfway There

Have I said 50,000 words is a lot of words yet? Well it is. I feel as if I’ve been writing this thing forever, and I’m not even halfway there. I think my story is going to be pretty good when I’m done, but it will need some work too. It’s not that I’m writing crap, it’s just that I seem to be writing the story skeleton. The dialog and action is there, but not a lot of description. Description isn’t my strong point anyhow, but you do need some of that.

I think the long hours are starting to catch up with me. I’ve been going to bed around midnight every night and waking up at 6:00 for work. That’s crazy. As I’ve said a few times in the comments, though, I’ll sleep next month. This month is WRITING MONTH.

We took our daughter for her 18 month checkup yesterday. Everything was fine with that. She handled her shots like a pro, only crying a little bit. Unfortunately for my poor wife, though, she didn’t take any naps today.

On top of that, I’m coming down with a cold. That’s about the last thing I need right now. I don’t care how bad I feel, though, I am going to finish this thing.

Those of you who have fallen behind, don’t lose heart. Even if you make it to half the goal, that’s still 25,000 words which is still an insane amount.

Well, it’s 11:30 and I’m at 23,400 words. I will hit 25,000 words sometime tomorrow, which will be a nice feeling. Good night for now.

  1. Congratulations! That is an achievement – dose yourself up and keep warm – colds are evil things. And the red nose is not a good look – although it is very seasonal with Christmas coming and all. Well, dear old Rudolf thinks so….
