NaNoWriMo – Still On Track

Well, it’s 11:55 PM Sunday night and I am finished with my writing today.  I have written 30,100 words thus far.  I am just barely on pace.  Still, it feels good that there are only 20,000 more words to go.  I’m amazed I’ve made it this far as I haven’t so much as glanced at my notes since day 2.  This has all been seat of my pants writing.  I’ll have to let you know if I ever read what I’ve written, if it has worked or not. I think…maybe it has.

The voting over at The Clarity of Night closed this evening.  Winners will be announced tomorrow.  I’m not worried.  I know I have no shot at winning.  With most of the entries getting 15 and 20 comments and mine getting 9 (two of which were mine) I think it’s safe to say I won’t be getting any prizes.  That’s ok, though, because I liked my entry.

The weekend was crazy.  I felt like crap the whole time, played ice hockey Saturday morning anyhow, my daughter didn’t take much of a nap Saturday, watched a movie Saturday night with my wife and daughter and had a blast.  On Sunday I didn’t feel much better, but we went to the mall to pick out a Christmas dress for my daughter, we ate lunch at a restaurant, and it snowed the first real snow of the year.  We also discovered my daughter has two new molars.

It was a disastrous weekend for my sports teams.  The Penguins, Penn State Football, and the Steelers all lost.  So did the hockey team I play on. Just a bad sports weekend.

After all this, though, I still think it was an amazing weekend.  I’m so happy I’ve hit my NaNoWriMo goals thus far.

  1. Those who read your story at the Restless Dawn Contest, surely liked it, too.
You are in the middle of writing a novel, man, a complete set of 50,000 words.
    You’re just doing great.

Is there any more expert from the story, btw…?

  2. Good to hear you’re still on track with NaNoWriMo. As Neil Gaiman’s email said, right now is the hardest part – soon you’ll get past halfway and it’ll be an easy slide to the finish. 🙂 I’m glad you had a good weekend despite not feeling 100%.

  3. You are doing great! And I think I only got a few comments on my entry and no surprises I didn’t win! But like you, I liked my entry too! Which one was yours? I didn’t get to read all of them as I was so crazed lately.

  4. I’m amazed you had the time to enter the other competition given your workload.

Glad you had a satisfying weekend (apart from the sports results). I wish we had snow – much better than heavy rain (and hailstones).

Hope you are feeling much better too.

  5. I am very excited for you SW! And I’m not even doing NaNoWriMo, nor is it my novel. But, I am so glad you are doing well. My best friend plays ice hockey. She used to play on the men’s league and then got kicked off because she wasn’t 18, but she still plays. I’ll have to tell her that you play hockey!
    best wishes!

  6. I just read it! That was great! It’s so funny how many different stories came out of that one picture. So you play football and ice hockey? My hubby is the basketball and soccer player – he tends to come home injured all the time!
