Have you all heard of the website Instructables? According to wikipedia Instructables is:
is a website specializing in user-created and uploaded do-it-yourself projects, which other users can comment on and rate for quality.
It’s a great site with so many cool projects. Want to know how to make something? It’s probably there. Want to know how to solve the Rubik’s Cube? That’s there too. I haven’t tried many things there, mostly for lack of money. Yesterday, however, I came across one that seemed pretty cool and didn’t cost any money.
What I found, were instructions on how to make a photograph look three dimensional. Here is the Instructable for making a 3D effect with image editing software. If you want to try this, I advise you to create a free account at the site, as this will allow you to view all the steps at once.
I have pasted my first attempts at this below. I used Photoshop, but the instructions are written for GIMP (which is a free download). I tried this technique using the picture of the little gnome I use for my avatar here.
Attempt #1 (my frame is cutting the poor gnome)
Attempt #2 (this is better, but the gnome needs to look like he’s completely coming from the picture)
Anyhow, give it a try if you want. I had a lot of fun with this. And this is why I never get any writing done 🙂
