Comic book creator and author Brian Metzer has created an organization to save the house where Jerry Siegel, creator of Superman once lived. It was in a bedroom in that house that Jerry Siegel thought up the idea for Superman. There is much more information about the project at http://ordinarypeoplechangetheworld.com/.

Here’s a quote from esteemed comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis that says it much better than I can:
“I think sometimes people take things like this for granted because it started in cartoon form, but this is a house were modern mythology was created. “Mythology that will never die away or disappear. There is no difference, to me, between this house and Mark Twain’s house. We have to honor and exalt such creation.”
The house is in extreme disrepair and is crumbling more and more by the day. There is an elderly couple living there at the moment, but they don’t have money for repairs. The Siegel & Shuster Society was created to save the house. They hope to raise enough money for repairs and plan on allowing the elderly couple to remain in the house after the house is restored.
There are many ways to help. At the website, they are auctioning off many great pieces of art, including Neil Gaiman’s original Waterstones card (that would be sweet to have). They are also selling T-shirts and other items. All go towards preserving history.
